what's for breakfast

Number 4 is cracking me up with all the additions to his vocabulary. This one in particular got me tickled:
oatmeal = oat-no

in our house it would be reversed . . . "no oat!" and that spoken with absolute horror.

All my kids would say Oat-no because none of them like oatmeal! I love the age of discovery, especially when it is so innocent.

My Mom was a firm believer in hot oatmeal for breakfast (which I hated as a child). Spent many a minute trying to get the oatmeal down before Mom would let me leave the table (while she repeated many times, "You're going to miss the bus.") My childhood was saved when Maypo (oatmeal combined with maple flavor) came out.

I still see Maypo at the grocery sometimes; the notion of eating it these days turns my stomach.
